God's Language

Feb 23, 2026    Boyd Biggerstaff

This powerful message challenges us to examine whether we are still speaking God's language or if we have allowed the culture of Babylon to reshape our spiritual vocabulary. Drawing from Ezra chapter 1, we encounter the Israelites after 70 years of captivity in Babylon—a captivity that changed not just their location, but their language, their culture, and their understanding of God. The most sobering moment comes when the shofar sounds to call them back to Jerusalem, and entire generations don't recognize it because they've never heard it before. They looked like Israelites, but they no longer knew the Hebrew ways. This is a mirror held up to the modern church: we may look the part, attend services, and carry our Bibles, but have we lost the ability to hear and speak God's language? The message exposes how culture has redefined biblical concepts—calling holiness 'legalism,' love 'affirmation,' peace 'quiet,' passion 'emotionalism,' accountability 'church hurt,' demonic strongholds 'lifestyles,' and grace 'tolerance.' Each redefinition represents a drift away from God's standard. The call is clear: it's time to return to our spiritual Jerusalem, to rebuild what has been torn down, and to reclaim the language of God through His Word and His presence. Only those whose spirits God raises will make the journey back.
