Honoring the Sabbath

Aug 18, 2026    Kevin Crawford (Senior Pastor)

What does it truly mean to honor the Sabbath? This message takes us back to the very beginning, to Genesis chapter 2, where God established a day of rest long before the law was ever given through Moses. That detail matters deeply, because it tells us the Sabbath was never just a legal requirement. It was woven into the fabric of creation itself, a gift of rhythm and rest that God designed for us. We explore what it looks like to set a day apart, to sanctify it, and to come before God with intentionality and preparation rather than simply dragging ourselves through the motions. The message draws a powerful contrast between the culture we live in today, where Sunday has become just another day of commerce and busyness, and the biblical vision of a day genuinely consecrated to worship, fellowship, and spiritual renewal. The story of Chick-fil-A honoring a day of rest and being blessed beyond competitors who worked seven days serves as a striking modern parable of an ancient principle. When we align our lives with the rhythms God established, something supernatural begins to happen. The question for each of us is simple but searching: have we allowed the habits of our culture to quietly crowd out the holy?
