Faith Over Fear

This powerful message confronts us with a fundamental choice we all face: Do we walk in fear or in faith? Drawing from the story of Ehud and Eglon in Judges 3, we discover a profound spiritual truth about defeating the flesh and the fears that hold us captive. Eglon, the king of Moab, represents our flesh—unpredictable, demanding, and keeping us in bondage. For eighteen years, Israel served this oppressive king, just as many of us have served our fears and fleshly desires for far too long. But God raised up Ehud, whose name means 'unity,' reminding us that when two or three agree in faith, mountains can be moved. The two-edged dagger Ehud used symbolizes the Word of God—living, powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword. This Word has the ability to divide between soul and spirit, between what is flesh and what is of God. We see this same eighteen-year bondage reflected in Luke 13, where a woman bound by infirmity for eighteen years is instantly healed when Jesus speaks freedom over her life. The question echoes to us today: Do we want to be healed? Are we ready to stop whining about our circumstances and rise up in faith? God hasn't given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. When we hide His Word in our hearts, behind our garment of righteousness and praise, we possess the weapon needed to put the enemy to death and walk in the freedom Christ has already provided.
